We want to be expressed—so expressed that we are felt for the truth of who we are.
Like, so f-cking expressed that the mountains shake and the wind goes tornado force.
We want to be felt like a tidal wave—full force, unapologetic, nothing standing in our way.
I’m sweeping you into oblivion felt—come with me or stand still, I’m doing this thing anyway.
But then what happens?
We shut it down.
We speak to please.
We write to sell.
We want to belong.
We turn it down—or shut it off.
What the hell is that about?
When the writing comes… when we have the opportunity…
We all have a million notebooks filled with just 13 pages (just me?).
And we can’t even be honest with ourselves.
Because—what’s the point?
Why write?
No one’s going to read it.
There are things to do, places to go, dreams to chase.
But what good is it sitting in our notebooks?
Well, I know one thing:
It’s better there than swirling in our heads.
Better than hijacking every thought and turning it into a:
“See? You’re not good enough. You’re not doing it. No one’s listening. What’s the point?” vortex.
When it’s on paper, we’ve done something.
We’ve made it manifest.
It’s there, in black and white.
No longer swirling around—but strung out, letter by letter. (Half) coherent.
We had to make sense of it to even write it.
And maybe that’s what’s scary.
When it’s in my head, it swims with seas of excuses.
A wisp. A flutter.
It can be buried—for a while.
It’s as important as everything else floating around—
But way less urgent.
Like the school pickup.
The email you have to send.
The call you need to make (incoming, spirit guide message: write).
The dishwasher, the shopping list, the never-ending laundry pile.
Oh look, the dishwasher just beeped (you are divinely supported—write).
Ping. A message to reply to.
Reminder: yoga class in 30 minutes.
Rumble—hi, stomach. Right. Food.
(What if you put those three ideas together—that could create great transformation…)
And do we have enough for dinner?
Better stop at the supermarket.
And…
Where’s the space?
What gets put down?
You stop, for a moment, and remember—
There’s a message to be downloaded.
What was that again?
A framework idea—how did that start?
Wasn’t there something else?
Ping. The kettle’s boiled.
The kids are calling.
Your call’s starting soon.
But is that really the reason?
Is it really about time and space?
Or does it go deeper?
It goes beyond prioritising.
It’s about permission.
Permission to dream.
Permission to express.
Permission to be felt and heard.
Permission to stop pretending this life is enough when we know there’s more.
Permission to be curious about what comes out—
When what comes out goes beyond what we’ve ever allowed ourselves to admit.
Permission
to
be
us
Fully.
And that doesn’t happen in the doing.
It doesn’t happen in the fancy sales copy or the formatted post.
It doesn’t happen in deciding what’s for dinner or whether to choose yoga or Pilates today.
This permission comes from being expressed.
Fully.
And that starts with you.
With the tidal wave.
With the rant.
With the full-force Richter-blowing explosion
that doesn’t give a sh*t about the laundry or the emails or the polite thing to say.
It starts with you giving yourself permission to be utterly, wildly, completely YOU.
And if we can’t even do that on paper,
in the privacy of our journals,
in the quiet of a moment…
How can we ever truly feel ourselves?
Because when we write,
when we express,
when we admit—
We have to face it.
The cold.
Hard.
Truth.
What if until now…
I’ve played it safe?
What if it’s all been a bit of a lie?
What if I’ve been living for everyone else?
What if I’ve created a polished, expected, convenient version of who I think I’m supposed to be?
And what if this… this truth…
gets me in all sorts of trouble?
What if it doesn’t fit the brand?
What if it makes people uncomfortable?
What if it makes me uncomfortable?
What if… that’s the point?
Because true expression isn’t cute.
It’s not clever.
It’s not the feather gently floating in the breeze.
True expression is meant to make the wind blow harder and the ground shake.
Unfiltered.
Unapologetic.
Unedited.
This is how the Universe conspires for you.
And when it does—
God, it’s glorious.
Even if no one claps.
Even if no one sees.
Because it was always about you.
And you finally realise—
This was what it meant to be you, all along
What’s the truth you’ve been holding back?
You don’t have to share the whole thing—but even naming it might just set something free. I’d love to know what this stirred in you.
Let’s talk in the comments.
